Police forces from Palau Police Force and the Cook Islands Police Service have united in solidarity with the Fiji Police Force following the tragic passing of Police Constable Peniasi Racagi.
In a message described as coming from across the “Blue Pacific”, the Palau Police Force said the loss of a fellow officer resonated deeply beyond national borders.
“At this difficult time, we stand with the leadership, officers and families of the Fiji Police Force in unity and support,” the statement said.
“We mourn beside you in remembrance of a fallen brother and remain committed to the swift arrest and prosecution of those responsible.”
Palau Police also reaffirmed shared regional policing values of fidelity, courage, integrity, honour and respect, paying tribute to PC Racagi’s service to Fiji and the wider Pacific community.
The Cook Islands Police Service echoed similar sentiments, with Commissioner Tai Joseph expressing sorrow on behalf of his officers.
“The fall of a police colleague is felt by us all, particularly in the service of one’s people and community,” he said.
“We join our Pacific colleagues in this sadness and extend our heartfelt prayers and sympathies to the officer’s family, friends and colleagues.”
Commissioner Joseph added that the tragedy was a reminder for Pacific nations to strengthen cooperation and enhance the safety and wellbeing of officers who serve on the frontline.
