The sixth Forum of Ministers and Environment Authorities of Asia Pacific will officially commence today in Nadi.
Hosted at the Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort & Spa, more than 300 delegates from 30 countries in the Asia-Pacific region are expected to participate in the four-day meeting.
This marks the first time the Sixth AP Forum will be held in the Pacific subregion.
The event is jointly organised by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Fiji and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
The Forum serves as the region’s premier platform for governments, intergovernmental organisations, and stakeholders to address pressing and emerging environmental challenges.
It aims to advance the environmental dimensions of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and support the implementation of Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs).
Outcomes from the Forum will inform the Asia-Pacific region’s contributions to the Seventh Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7), to be held in December 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya.
This includes input to the draft ministerial declaration and proposed resolutions.
