The Fiji women’s indoor volleyball side has managed to achieve their target at the Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands after securing a medal for Team Fiji.
The side defeated American Samoa by two sets to one in the bronze medal playoff at the Friendship Hall in Honiara.
Before departing Fiji for the games last week, head coach Varanisese Logavatu said their goal was to reach the medal podium, finishing in the top three.
“So proud of how the girls performed today, and I am happy to say we’ve been able to reach our goal of finishing in the top three,” she said.
Logavatu said being able to win a medal, returning to the competition after a span of eight years, was special for the team.
“Most of the girls here are new players but they have proven their worth and have been able to come all out for a medal.
“The girls have been working tirelessly over the past few months before the games and being able to achieve our target is amazing.”
