Fiji men’s 7’s side pulled off an impressive win in their second match of the Pacific Games thumping Kiribati 76-0 at the Main Stadium yesterday.

Skipper Suliano Volivoli said the team featured a number of young players who had been performing well in their past two games.

“First of all, I would like to thank God for giving us the strength to come out with a win today, I am very happy with how the boys played today,” he said.

“Yes, we have a young side, but they have shown they have what it takes to perform at regional level.”

Volivoli said finishing on top is their target for the games and is adamant his side has what it takes to secure gold.

“I have faith in the boys that they are able to do what they came out here to do, representing our country to the games.”

He added his side had been doing their best on the field in hopes of catching the attention of the Fiji Airways men’s 7s head coach Ben Gollings.

“Most of the boys here are looking to impress Ben Gollings, the coach of our national 7s side, as the common goal among the players is to be in his team.

“This is a good mindset for the boys because they have been playing at their best in the past two days which is beneficial for the team here at the games.”

Meanwhile, the Fiji women’s 7s side also managed to secure a win in their second match, thumping Solomon Islands 47-0.
