AS the inaugural Pacific Islands Fiber Conference 2025 came to an end yesterday, Gold-level sponsor Vodafone Fiji said the event was important to the digital journey of not just Fiji but the entire Pacific region.
Under the theme, “Pacific Connected: Building Resilient Digital Foundations,” the two-day conference held at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau, Nadi, focused on strengthening the role of fibre connectivity as a key enabler of digital transformation.
“Vodafone Fiji acknowledges the crucial discussions held at the Pacific Islands Fiber Conference 2025,” chief executive officer Elenoa Biukoto said in statement issued yesterday by Vodafone Fiji.
“These conversations were not only vital for Fiji’s digital future but also for the entire Pacific region.
“Vodafone Fiji remains dedicated to boosting digital access for all communities, recognising that the insights gained over the past two days are essential for future-proofing our region in digital empowerment,” Ms Biukoto said.
Discussions at the conference focus on:
n Fine-tuning on strategically targeting broadband investments to maximise the impact of digital infrastructure across the Pacific islands;
n Building a resilient digital future by leveraging technology to drive both economic and social growth;
n Transforming network operations, highlighting how Pacific telecommunication companies can effectively utilise Artificial Intelligence and automation in the 5G era, ultimately articulating a shared vision for a digitally inclusive and prosperous Pacific region;
n The critical need for closing the digital divide through effective submarine cable strategies that promote resilient and inclusive growth; and
n Creating enabling environments for investment in digital infrastructure and the importance of capacity building and digital inclusion initiatives to ensure all segments of society can actively participate in the digital economy.

It was hosted by Telecom Fiji, the Fiber Network Council Asia Pacific and the Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association (PITA).
