More than 200 delegates from around the world are expected at a two-day inaugural conference dedicated to fiber connectivity, resilient network strategies and digital infrastructure in the Pacific Islands region which begins tomorrow in Nadi.
The Pacific Fiber Conference 2025 is a joint effort by Telecom Fiji Ltd (TFL), the Fiber Network Council Asia Pacific (FNCAP), and the Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association (PITA).
The conference will be held at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau Island and will include telecom leaders, government representatives, investors, data centre operators, and international technology providers.
Key themes to be explored at the conference include fiber and satellite convergence, smart island innovation and remote service delivery, subsea and terrestrial cable strategies, and AI (Artificial Intelligence), 5G, Cloud, and cybersecurity in the Pacific.
Telecom Fiji Ltd chief executive officer Charles Goundar stated that the conference was an opportunity to “unite and shape the future of connectivity in the Pacific, which is experiencing a strategic shift in its approach to connectivity, from undersea cables to last-mile inclusion”.
Mr Goundar said that at the core of this transformation were themes critical to the region, such as fiber and satellite convergence, smart island solutions for remote service delivery, robust subsea and terrestrial cable strategies, and the integration of Al, 5G, Cloud and cybersecurity.
FNCAP secretary Frank Jaffer described the event as a catalyst for action where Pacific stakeholders and global players will collaborate on secure, sustainable, and future-ready connectivity strategies.
PITA manager Fred Christopher said there was strong early interest from sponsors.
He encouraged people to act now to gain visibility in a fast-growing, underserved digital market.
The conference supports the goals of the Fijian Government’s ongoing digitalFIJI program and the recently launched National Digital Strategy 2025-2030, which together provide a roadmap for accelerating digital transformation, improving service delivery, and strengthening ICT resilience across the Pacific and Fiji.
