Outsource Fiji names new head – Strategic appointment targets revenue growth and market expansion

BUSINESS Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry secretariat Outsource Fiji has appointed Josefa Wivou as its new executive director.

The appointment has been described as a strategic move that comes at a pivotal time in Fiji’s outsourcing sector as it enters a new phase of growth, with the industry experiencing increased global interest and expanding opportunities.

In a statement, Outsource Fiji said Mr Wivou previously led regional commercial strategies at Fiji Airways and Solomon Airlines.

“He had a proven track record in driving revenue growth, market expansion and brand development across multiple locations in the Oceania and Asia-Pacific regions,” it stated.

It added Mr Wivou was known for his ability to foster strategic partnerships and implement initiatives that created long-term value for businesses and stakeholders.

BPO Council of Fiji president Morika Hunter welcomed Mr Wivou and noted the importance of strong leadership in maintaining Fiji’s competitive edge.

She said the outsourcing sector remained one of Fiji’s fastest growing industries, benefitting from the country’s cost competitiveness, skilled workforce, and strong cultural alignment with key international markets.

She said Mr Wivou’s appointment signalled a new strategic direction for Outsource Fiji.

“His extensive background in aviation, tourism, and e-commerce, combined with his expertise in strategic business growth, government relations, and international market expansion is expected to drive greater investment, industry collaboration and global positioning for Fiji’s outsourcing sector,” Ms Hunter said.

“Josefa’s experience and vision come at the right time for the industry.

“His expertise will be invaluable as we work towards strengthening Fiji’s outsourcing ecosystem, expanding market reach, and ensuring a sustainable future for the sector.”

Speaking of his new role, Mr Wivou said he was eager to build on Fiji’s existing strengths and drive initiatives that would enhance the country’s appeal as a nearshoring destination.

He said Fiji’s outsourcing industry had incredible potential and he was excited to lead Outsource Fiji during the transformative phase.

“We will be focussing on strengthening industry partnerships, advocating for industry-friendly policies, and ensuring that our workforce is equipped to meet the evolving demands of global clients,” Mr Wivou said.

“A key priority is impressing the value that the BPO industry as a whole has on the wider economics of the work force, and its impact on one of the fastest growing sectors in the country.

“It’s important to note that this industry has progressed exponentially within a very short period, and this means that the guidance given to its performance within industry global best-practices must be complied too likewise,” he said.

Outsource Fiji, also known as BPO Council of Fiji, is tasked with guiding and ensuring the development of the BPO industry in Fiji.
