There is no immediate threat to Fijian peacekeepers deployed in the Golan Heights under the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF).
Minister for Defence, Pio Tikoduadua made the statement after the recent developments in Syria and the surrounding region.
“All Fijian troops stationed with UNDOF, including those at the headquarters in Camp Faour, are secure and accounted for,” he said.
“Robust contingency plans are in place to safeguard our personnel should the security situation change.
Mr Tikoduadua added the bravery and professionalism of our troops serving in these challenging conditions must be commended.
