Opportunities should be given to students who don’t succeed, says the Assistant Minister for Education Iliesa Vanawalu. Mr Vanawalu made the comment after he was asked whether there were plans to bring back the repeat system in schools. Responding to queries, he said many students who had repeated classes had gone on to achieve signifi cant success.

“We are human beings, and I believe if we are a given second chance to prosper, we should take it,” Mr Vanawalu said.

He said some repeaters had successfully completed degree studies.

“Most of those repeaters, they succeed in life in their long-term careers.

“If given another chance, why not.”

The no-repeat system or leaving no one behind was introduced by the FijiFirst government
