One year suspension for Bola

STAR Lautoka half back Kelemedi Bola has been suspended from all levels of rugby for the duration of one year.

Bola has been handed the lengthy ban after assaulting team manager Maika Ratu during a training session at Churchill Park a fortnight ago.

The decision to ban Bola was made at an executive meeting on Tuesday.

Union secretary Salesi Vulakoro said Bola had brought disrepute to the union with his action.

Vulakoro said Bola should be a role model to other players being a former national rep.

“The incident is of a serious nature according to the IRB regulations and the Lautoka rugby constitution.”

Ratu needed medical treatment following the assault. The matter has been reported to police.

“We have advised the FRU about the suspension,” Vulakoro said.

Bola represented Fiji against Samoa and Japan in 2012.
