A 46-year-old man from Wauosi Village has died following a truck accident on Thursday evening along Nasaucoko Farm Road in Navosa.

Police say the victim was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 47-year-old farmer, also from Wauosi, and was travelling towards Nadi when the vehicle veered off the road and plunged down a slope.

At the time of the incident, seven other passengers were seated in the back tray of the vehicle.

As the vehicle lost control, a 33-year-old farmer and an 18-year-old student managed to jump off and later helped pull others out of the wreckage.

A passing motorist assisted in transporting the injured to Navosa Hospital, where the 46-year-old man was pronounced dead on arrival.

Two female passengers, a 40-year-old and a 21-year-old from Wauosi, remain admitted at Sigatoka Hospital, while the driver is admitted at Lautoka Aspen Hospital.

The rest of the passengers were treated and discharged.
