The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji has acknowledged there is an oil spill in Suva harbour.

This is stated in a Coastal Warning issued yesterday.

The advisory states a roll-on roll-off ship, 59 metres in length is semi-submerged in depth 5 metres.

“Ships entering or leaving Muaiwalu wharves are advised to exercise caution,” states the MSAF advisory.

“Two unlit yellow special buoys established in vicinity of the oil spill response boundary.”

The Maritime Safety Authority Fiji said the vessel “went down” after being towed out of Narain Jetty in Suva by Fiji Ports.
