A post shared on social media has highlighted a moment of compassion witnessed during flood response operations in Ba.
In the post, a Ba Police Station officer identified as EL Tuapati described how, while conducting mobile patrols to check flooded areas and move people away from unsafe zones on Sunday, she came across an elderly woman sitting alone on a street corner in heavy rain.
The officer said the woman, believed to be over 80 years old, was soaked, shivering and without shelter.
The officer said she could not leave her in those conditions and took her to the police station to ensure she was safe and out of the weather.
After completing his shift, she returned with a change of clothes so she could keep warm and dry.
Reflecting on the experience, the officer wrote that the uniform represents not only authority, but also compassion and a duty to protect people from suffering.
She also urged members of the public to check on elderly people and those living alone during the ongoing bad weather, noting that small acts of kindness can make a significant difference.
