Olympic gold medalist Jerry Tuwai says this weekend’s 2021 PacificAus Sports Oceania Sevens will set a good platform for the Fiji 7s team before they defend their gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics next month.
Speaking to Oceania Ruby in Australia, Tuwai said it’s been a while since his team played in an international tournament and this tournament will surely give the boys the much needed game time.
“Los Angeles (2020) was the last time we played in an international tournament. We have been playing in some local tournament since then,” he said.
Tuwai added it would be good for the new boys to have a feel of an international event before the Olympics.
The Oceania 7s kicks off tomorrow.
