HUNDREDS of Fijian nurses from the Central Division took to the streets of Suva earlier today to mark the beginning of celebrations for the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.
Ministry of Health and Medical Services chief nursing and midwifery Margaret Leong said this year was all about what nurses do.
“As nurses, we are unique and peculiar if I may say,” Ms Leong said.
“Because we are the heartbeat of our healthcare system, we are so privileged to be present at the beginning of life and at the end of life.”
The theme for this year’s celebration is, ‘Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Nursing the World to Health’.
