Update: 11:41AM A 5.6 MAGNITUDE earthquake was recorded in the Fiji Islands region this morning.
The
Seismology Unit of the Mineral Resources department confirmed that the earthquake
occurred at depth of 576km.
It
was registered 535km South-southwest from Doi village, Ono-i-Lau, 785km
Southwest from Nukualofa, Tonga and 739km South from Suva.
The
department said the offshore seismic activity was moderate did not pose any
immediate threat to the region.
