TotalEnergies Fiji has reassured the public that there is no shortage of fuel in the country despite reports of empty pumps at some service stations.

Managing director and CEO Bhavana Samel said the company is actively managing fuel distribution to maintain steady supply amid volatile global markets.

“TotalEnergies Fiji is proactively managing its fuel distribution to ensure steady supply for the country while global fuel markets remain volatile,” she said. “However, there has been a sudden increase in demand.”

She urged motorists not to store large quantities of fuel in containers in closed areas due to safety risks and to ensure fair access for all drivers.

“We are encouraging motorists to use fuel responsibly during this period of international uncertainty, helping ensure fuel remains available for essential services and the wider community at all times.”

TotalEnergies Fiji said the sudden surge in demand had led to temporary reports of pumps running dry, but distribution was being carefully monitored to prevent widespread shortages.

Ms Samel emphasised that responsible use by the public would help ensure a steady fuel supply across the country while global markets remain unpredictable.
