Opposition MP Ketan Lal has described as “heart-wrenching scene” seeing the former Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum in hospital.
Mr Lal posted on social media that he visited the former politician yesterday.
“I could not hold back my tears,” Lal shared.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum’s lawyers informed the High Court yesterday that he has suffered a stroke and has heart problems.
“No one deserves this. No family should watch their loved one fade, waiting for care our country cannot provide.”
“What if this was my father, my mother, or me?”
Mr Lal calls for prayers and unity, reminding Fijians that “beneath the politics, we are all flesh and blood.” The nation watches, hoping for a resolution that prioritises humanity over bureaucracy.”
