The Hope Opportunity Prosperity Equality party (HOPE) has been de-registered as a political party with immediate effect after continuously breaching the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding & Disclosures) Act, 2013 (“Act”).
The Fijian Elections Office in a statement said on April 12 last year the Registrar of Political Parties found that the party was in breach of Section 26(2) of the Act.
FEO also said that it was noted that as at February 10 the party failed to submit the audited accounts for the year 2020 as required under the Act.
“Given the above, HOPE has failed to remedy the breach despite being given the requisite time under the law as well as additional time (approximately more than six months) in light of COVID-19 limitations.”
