COME next Monday, September 1, Fiji Link – the domestic subsidiary of Fiji Airways – will no longer accept cash payments at the Nadi, Nausori and Labasa airports.

The move comes as the airline takes the step toward a modern and seamless travel, and its commitment to delivering “greater convenience, security and efficiency” for its customers.

From that date, all Fiji Link customer transactions at those three airports, including ticket purchases, excess baggage and other services must be completed using the approved payment methods of a debit or credit card, M-PAiSA mobile payments and/or local purchase orders for approved customers.

A statement from the airline stated that with faster transactions and multiple digital options, travellers could look forward to a smoother airport experience.

It said going cashless also reduced the risks and delays often associated with handling physical money, while supporting Fiji’s broader shift towards digital payments and smarter travel.

“In the past, Fiji Airways accepted cash as well as debit and credit cards, M-PAiSA, and local LPOs for approved customers,” a Fiji Airways spokesperson said.

“From 1 September, we will move to a cashless payment system for greater convenience and security.

“By embracing cashless operations, Fiji Link is not only keeping pace with international best practices but also ensuring that domestic travellers enjoy the same level of ease and efficiency as those flying internationally.

“Fiji Link looks forward to welcoming customers onboard and delivering a travel experience that is faster, safer and more convenient.”

The spokesperson added check-in times also remained key and urged customers to arrive early and ensure they were ready with an accepted payment method if required.
