Authorities are monitoring the weather situation before any confirmation for schools to open tomorrow.
Divisional Commissioner West and North Apolosi Lewaqai said their teams continue to monitor the weather reports and assessments from their teams on the ground.
“By 5pm today we should have an update on our schools and whether there will be a need to keep some schools closed,” he said.
“Once we receive that confirmation from our teams on the ground then we will be able to send a message to the NDMO and to the Ministry of Education.
“So far, we are urging members of the public to keep listening to the weather reports and to refrain from venturing out to any flooded areas or making any unnecessary movements.
“Stay indoors and stay updated with the latest reports and if you are in low lying areas and see that the water levels are rising, please move to higher grounds.”
Mr Lewaqai said as of 3.30pm, no evacuation centres have been activated in the Western and Northern Divisions.
