Energy Fiji Limited has confirmed receipt of a strike notice from the Construction Energy and Timber Workers Union of Fiji, with industrial action scheduled to begin on February 15.
EFL Chief Executive Officer Fatiaki Gibson said the company received the CETWUF Notice of Strike dated January 9, 2026, which includes matters already before the Arbitration Court.
“EFL has received the CETWUF Notice of Strike dated 9th January 2026 which includes issues which is part of the Trade Dispute 4 of 2025 pending determination before the Arbitration Court. Therefore no further statements can be made as the matter is sub judice,” Gibson said.
About 500 members of the Construction Energy and Timber Workers Union of Fiji are expected to take part in the strike.
According to the notice, strike action will commence at 7am on February 15, 2026, and will continue until an agreement is reached. The walkout is expected to take place at EFL workplaces and workstations nationwide and will involve tradesmen, staff and senior staff.
The union’s grievances include EFL’s alleged refusal to negotiate its 2024 and 2025 Logs of Claims, both seeking a proposed 10 per cent wage increase.
Other issues raised relate to the alleged non-payment of shift allowances, live-line allowances for crane operators working at height, and calls for an upgrade of live-line workers’ rates in addition to existing allowances.
CETWUF is holding a press conference today on the issue while the Ministry of Workplace Relations is scheduled to meet both the parties on Monday.
