Nine contestants will be vying for the Miss Bula Queen when the festival begins in Nadi on July 19 .
The queen contestants were announced last Friday during the launch of the 65th FMF Nadi Bula Festival with the theme: ‘Rebuilding Lives Through Compassion and Charity’.
Festival Trust president Salome Williams said the objective of the festival was to furnish the library at the Nadi Town Council.
“By providing their photocopying machine and two desktop computers,” she said.
“The festival was not held for four years because of COVID-19.
“And 2024 was the year of celebrations that brought back smiles to the community.
“We raised a substantial amount, and we also paid huge amount of expenses. The surplus was $26,000 that enabled to take off this festival this year.”
Ms Williams said a total of $15,000 was raised from the charity contributions last year.
“We extend our request to all business houses in Nadi to come on board and support our festival.”
FMF Group marketing manager Maria Kumar said as naming rights sponsor of the festival, their partnership marked a significant milestone.
She said this reflected the group’s deep-rooted commitment to community, engagement in cultural celebration and national pride.
“The Bula Festival is more than just a week-long event,it’s about people from all walks of life getting together to celebrate the rich diversity of Fijian culture,” Ms Kumar said.
The festival will take place from July 19 to July 26 at Koroivolu Park, and an entertainment stage will be at the Prince Charles Park.
