CHURCH College of Fiji (formerly LDS College) and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School are the blue ribbon holders of this year’s Coca-Cola Games Suva Zone Two competition.
Jean Luc Kalowia of Church College crossed the finish line with a time of 11seconds while Lidia Waqairapoa of MGM High School finished with a time of 12.24 seconds.
They beat out other strong contenders from the other 22 participating schools at the zone athletics meet.
Waqairapoa had emerged as a favourite in the race yesterday, after finishing strongly in the heats and during the final in lane six of the track, she soared for victory to earn the win for MGM.
Kalowia competed for Church College in just his third year of living in Fiji and attributed the win to his hard work and diligent preparations.
The zone athletics meet continues today.
