Pacific Harbour based youth non-governmental organisation ‘First Responders’ is finding creative ways to raise funds to maintain its 100 cooked meals for impoverished families program.

The team, led by lawyer Joseph Work, has embarked on an “Eat to Give” project, where patrons purchase a meal and the NGO uses the funds to cook and provide 100 meals for the poorest families in the Navua-Pacific Harbour corridor – something the NGO has been engaged in since May this year.

“Every Saturday First Responders will be selling $10 lovo lunch packs, and $35 family jumbo lovo packs in Pacific Harbour to raise funds to help maintain our weekly 100 meal donations drive,” he said.

“To date, First Responders has cooked and donated 2000 meals.

“Fundraising to support community programs is becoming more common during this time of declining resources owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“If you would like to support our community program, please call 8621654 or 8421286.”

First Responders was formed by Sarah Conrad in the wake of TC Yasa.

The group delivered three tonnes of aid to affected communities in Vanua Levu.

First Responders has since expanded into providing families in need with food, infants with baby formula and diapers as well as adult diapers for the elderly and disabled.
