The National Federation Party (NFP) has declared that it is ready to play a leading role in both Parliament and Government after the next General Election, as it ramps up preparations for the 2026 campaign.

In a social media post following the NFP Nadi Branch Annual General Meeting, the party said it was confident it could unite the people of Fiji through what it described as strong, honest and dedicated leadership.

Under the theme “NFP to play the leading role in #WeavingFijiTogether”, party leader Professor Biman Prasad told members that the party’s 63-year history provided a solid foundation for future growth and national unity.

“The NFP had a long and proud history of 63 years and this was the unbreakable foundation of achievements on which the party would build Fiji into a unified land of hope and opportunity,” he said.

Professor Prasad said the NFP expected to emerge as a leading political force after the next election.

“He said NFP will be a leading party both in Parliament and in Government after the next general elections.”

The former Deputy Prime Minister also said the party had remained united despite persistent criticism and attacks.

“Despite a tidal wave of attacks on both the NFP and him, the party has proven it remains highly credible and unified to tackle and conquer all challenges before it.”

The Nadi meeting was the fifth successful NFP branch gathering held in the past six weeks. The party’s National AGM and Convention is expected to be held towards the end of September.

The NFP Working Committee will meet in Rakiraki on June 6 to decide on the date and venue of the national gathering.
