National Fire Authority and Police Officers in Rakiraki were commended for their act of bravery after rescuing a pregnant woman from her home in Rakiraki.
The officers carried the woman to safety across flooded roads using the bottom half of a water tank.
The pregnant woman was then transported to the Rakiraki hospital.
Education Minister Premila Kumar lauded their efforts on her official Twitter account this morning.
“Thank you NFA for the brave act.
“Vinaka Team,” she tweeted.
