New Zealand’s new High Commissioner to Fiji, Greg Andrews, formally presented his credentials yesterday to the Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, marking the start of his diplomatic posting in Fiji.
The ceremony officially recognised High Commissioner Andrews as New Zealand’s representative in Fiji and authorised him to act on behalf of the New Zealand Government.
High Commissioner Andrews said it was an honour to meet the President and the First Lady, Emily Lalabalavu.
“Ni sa bula vinaka, it is deeply humbling to formally take up my role as New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Fiji,” Mr Andrews said.
“I’m looking forward to working with communities, businesses, officials, and Kiwis based here in Fiji to further strengthen the ties between our two countries.”
Mr Andrews brings extensive diplomatic experience to the role, having previously served as New Zealand’s Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova. He has also held the position of Deputy Head of Mission at New Zealand’s Mission to the European Union.
The New Zealand High Commission said it warmly welcomed High Commissioner Andrews and looked forward to working with him to continue building a secure, prosperous and stable future for both Fiji and New Zealand.
