DIGICEL Pacific this week announced the appointment of Steve Long as its new chief executive officer to lead Digicel Pacific in its hub markets Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu and Nauru.

“Steve is a dedicated senior executive with over 18 years’ experience in telecommunications, spanning both challenger and market-leading telcos,” Digicel said in a statement. “Since joining Telstra 8 years ago, Steve has held various senior executive positions across the consumer, business and wholesale segments.”

Telstra is the parent company of Digicel Pacific.

Telstra International chief executive officer Roary Stasko said he was delighted Steve will be joining the team and looks forward to the positive impact he will make.

“Steve brings a wealth of experience and energy to Digicel Pacific. His passion for developing people and his strong commercial acumen will be invaluable in driving the continued success of our hub markets,” Mr Stasko said.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Long said:

“I’m passionate about telecommunications because we play such a critical role in connecting people, communities and businesses.

“Joining Digicel Pacific offers a unique chance to engage with the vibrant cultures and dynamic commercial landscapes across the Pacific.

“I’m energised by the opportunity and deeply committed to learning from the regions, building strong relationships, and helping our teams and customers thrive.”

Mr Long replaces Shally Jannif, who has left after 12 years with the company to pursue the next chapter in her career.
