The Grasshoppers Premier Netball Team made a strong showing at the NewWorld Suva Netball Association 2025 club competition on Saturday, with new players stepping up to shine in the absence of key players.
Coach Unaisi Ranavua made the decision to give the new players and beach players a chance to compete following their return from a successful competition in Australia.
Despite missing some of their main players, the team managed to secure a 21-11 victory over Huva Stallions in their match.
Ranavua expressed her satisfaction with the performance of the new players, many of whom had recently joined the club and the sport of netball.
“I’m really proud of the girl’s performance, most of them this is their first game time, and looking at their performance is just amazing,” said Ranavua.
While the main players were in recovery mode or attending classes, the new players stepped up and delivered a strong performance.
“For these young girls to step up, and show their talents, it’s something great, these girls really proven themselves, and they are not letting our team down, as we aim to win.
As the team prepares for round eight of the competition, Ranavua emphasised the importance of strong defensive play.
“As we head into round eight this Saturday, we will be expecting a tough competition, we have been working on our defence, and we are looking forward to game day.”
Ranavua extended her thanks to the players for their hard work and dedication, as well as to the parents for their support.
