SIX new signings have been announced by Bula FC ahead of the OFC Professional League which kicks off next month.
They are Mohammed Ayman, Thomas Dunn, Veleni Rasorewa, Josaia Sela, Delon Shankar and Sterling Vasconcellos.
Bula FC is the first professional football club in Fiji and won the bid to be part of the inaugural OFC Professional League.
Ayman shared how it marked a major step in his fledging football career.
“This is a huge step in my football career. My dad and siblings encouraged me to play and take up the opportunity,” Ayman said.
Dunn says being a part of the club marked a new experience for him.
“I feel good being a part of this setup. It’s something new, it’s a whole new experience which I can learn from,” he said.
Rasorewa mentioned how the signing was the icing on the cake.
“I’ve worked hard for this and there’s still a lot to learn, but I’m ready to push myself, grow and give everything for the club,” the 17-year-old striker said.
Sela, signing on at 22, said the inclusion was the realisation of a childhood dream and an incentive to work harder.
“I was looking for this when I was a kid. I was dreaming of being a professional player, so yes, it’s an opportunity for me to showcase my talent,” Sela remarked.
Fellow signee Shankar said being part of the club meant financial stability for him and his family.
Vasconcellos expressed gratitude at being part of the team.
“It’s a blessing, I have been praying for this chance and I hope everything goes well for me.”
The first round of the professional league will take place from January 17-24 in Auckland, New Zealand next year.
