Passport services are set to expand to three new locations in a bid to cut queues and improve access for travellers.

“The department is working on opening passport services in Labasa, Lautoka, and at Nausori International Airport,” Immigration Minister Viliame Naupoto told Parliament.

He said the move aimed to reduce the burden on the Suva passport office.

“We have listened to the public’s concerns about delays and travel costs, and this will make it easier for people to apply for or renew their passports,” he said.

Mr Naupoto said the upgrades would be accompanied by new technology.

“We will be introducing an online passport application system to speed up the process,” he said.

The minister added that the Government was committed to making services more accessible.
