THE Fijian Teachers Association (FTA) has officially broken ground on a new five-storey commercial building in Suva.

The ceremony was attended by acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs, Manoa Kamikamica, alongside FTA president Netani Druavesi.

In his address, Mr Kamikamica praised the initiative as a forward-thinking investment.

“By 2027, FTA envisions transforming this building into a hub of activity, offering offices, retail spaces, and a roof garden for formal functions,” Mr Kamikamica said.

“It will stand as a monument to your foresight, resilience, and commitment to creating spaces that empower educators.”

FTA has opened expressions of interest to businesses, NGOs, and other stakeholders for affordable office and retail space leasing opportunities within the upcoming development.

The $26million building is expected to be completed and fully operational by 2027.
