New Fiji Puisne judges sworn in

Fiji’s newly-appointed Puisne judge Justice Mohammed Mackie was sworn in by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere at the State House yesterday.

According to a Government statement, Justice Mackie had previously served as a Judge to the Civil Appellate High Court of Matara and the Civil Appellate High Court of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

It stated that prior to his service in Sri Lanka, he had served as a Puisne Judge of the High Court of Lautoka in the Civil Division.

Meanwhile, Puisne judge Justice Gihan Himanshu Kulatunga was also sworn in as a member of the Independent Legal Services Commission.

Justice Kulatunga hails from Sri Lanka and he was sworn in February 8 by the President.

According to the Government, he has 19 years of experience as a legal practitioner and as a judge of the High Court.
