The Fiji Revenue Customs Service (FCRS) officially opened its Ba office last week, aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening compliance.

Speaking at the event, Finance Minister Esrom Immanuel said the new office space is more than a physical upgrade.

“It’s a sign of the commendable progress that FRCS has achieved in recent years,” he said.

“FRCS continues to modernise its systems, strengthen its leadership capacity and capability and enhance compliance framework all within the goal of serving taxpayers more efficiently and fairly.

“These improvements demonstrate FRCS’ dedication to building an organisation that is transparent, responsive and performance driven.”

Mr Immanuel said the progress made by FRCS is further reflected in Fiji’s recent removal from the European Union’s blacklist of non-corporative jurisdictions for tax purposes or the EU blacklist.

“That follows a comprehensive reform led by FRCS in tax transparency, governance, and international compliance.

“I wish to acknowledge and thank the FRCS for the considerable work undertaken to achieve this milestone which required sustainable development technical expertise, discipline, and commitment of the last three years.

“This achievement is the strong endorsement of professionalism and integrity of the organisation and reinforces global confidence in Fiji’s tax system.

“It demonstrates that FRCS is not only strengthening its services at the community level as witnessed here in Ba but also meeting the highest international standards in the global stage.”

FRCS chief executive officer Udit Singh said the new office will serve the people of Ba better and support economic development within the region.

“The opening of the Ba office is not just about any office, it is teamwork, partnership and shared commitment to serving our nation better,” Mr Singh said.

The new FRCS office is located on Level One, FIFA Building (above Bank of South Pacific) on Lot 1 & 2 Ganga Singh St, Ba.
