THE Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF) has introduced its new corporate plan to guide its work in the next five years.
This was revealed by CAAF chief executive officer Theresa Levestam at CAAF’s 45th anniversary celebrations last week, officiated by Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka.
“We believe in our purpose, and that is to safeguard the well-being and prosperity of Fijians by ensuring the utmost in safety and security of our air transport system,” Ms Levestam said.
“To guide us in this journey, we are proud to introduce a new corporate plan, which will be anchored in a revised vision, mission, purpose, motto and values.
“This plan will serve as our compass for the next five years.”
She said CAAF would also be rolling out their second edition of the Fiji State Safety Program, laying the foundation for the National Aviation Safety Plan that is set to be published in the first half of 2025.
“This underscores our unwavering dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards.
“Our revamped website, launching soon, is designed to be more user friendly and provide stakeholders with easier access to critical information and services, introducing automation across various processes.”
Acknowledging the contribution made by the organisation’s past leaders, Ms Levestam said CAAF had, over the past 45 years, remained steadfast in its mission to uphold the highest standards of aviation, not just in Fiji, but across the Pacific.
“From pioneering the use of the Global Positioning System, or GPS, as it is commonly known, for aircraft tracking, to facilitating the implementation of advanced surveillance within our airspace, we have been at the forefront of innovation and excellence,” she said.
“Our oversight effective implementation scores surpasses the global average, and we have participated and held leadership roles in several international civil aviation working groups and committees.
“As we celebrate these accomplishments, we also look ahead with much determination to continue the enduring legacy that has been passed down to us.”
While officiating at the event, Minister Gavoka said the Government is committed to ensuring that Fiji’s aviation sector continued to thrive, with a review of aviation laws planned for next year.
