FIJI National Provident Fund-owned Grand Pacific Hotel has announced the arrival of esteemed executive pastry chef Samuel Hutabarat as a member of their culinary team.
Originally from Indonesia, chef Samuel has had pivotal roles in renowned establishments and hotels worldwide such as Conrad Dubai (part of Hilton Hotels & Resorts), Millennium Hotel Convention Centre Kuwait, and The Stanley Hotel and Suites (Port Moresby, PNG).

According to a statement from IHG, Mr Hutabarat’s career highlights include catering for Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s State visit and orchestrating events for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Senior Officials’ Meeting (APEC SOM) in 2018 and the APEC Leaders’ Summit.
He also achieved the Best Brunch at Traiteur Restaurant in Park Hyatt Dubai as Pastry Chef de Partie. Mr Hutabarat will oversee GPH’s operations, develop innovative menus, and maintain stringent quality standards.
He will also play a pivotal role in developing Fijian talent to international standards within the realm of patisserie, and train colleagues on menu items and enhancing their skills through intricate techniques.
