The Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF) has ushered in new leadership, signalling what appears to be the first major change to a sugar industry-related entity under the current Minister for Sugar.
A formal ceremony at the SCGF headquarters today welcomed newly appointed chairman Marika Sedre Luveniyali, attended by board members, management, staff and growers.
He replaces Ahmed Bhamji.
Mr Luveniyali brings extensive experience in finance, administration and governance, with qualifications in Business and Economics from the University of the South Pacific. His career spans senior roles across key government ministries, financial institutions and non-profit organisations, including the Ministries of Finance and Health, and the St John Association of Fiji.
He has also served on several prominent boards, including Tourism Fiji, the Unit Trust of Fiji and Air Terminal Services.
The SCGF also acknowledged the service of outgoing chairman Ahemad Bhamji, thanking him for his leadership during his tenure.
The Fund reaffirmed its commitment to improving support services and advancing the interests of Fiji’s sugarcane growers as the industry navigates ongoing challenges.
