Fiji Airways executive manager global sales Kamal Haer is the new chairperson for the RB Patel Group Ltd (RBG) board.
RBG made the announcement this week at the South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPX) where it is listed.
“As a hotelier, she had direct and indirect commercial and strategic leadership experience managing IHG hotels and resorts in the South Pacific, Southeast Asia and Japan. Brands include Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts, Crown Plaza, Indigo and Holiday Inn Express,” the company stated.
Ms Haer’s appointment follows the resignation of outgoing chairperson Yogesh Karan who had held the role since January 2020.
She holds a Master of Business, with Distinction, from RMIT University in Melbourne and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management from the USP.
Also joining Ms Haer at the board is Fijian Holdings Ltd Senior Associate – Core Investments Tevita Tuiloa.
Mr Tuiloa has a Bachelor of Arts degree from USP majoring in Accounting and Financial Management.
He has held senior positions in Fiji Revenue and Customs Services, Fiji Rugby Union and PWC Chartered Accountants with a strong background in financial compliance audits, accounting and financial management, corporate governance, investments, and risk management.
The RBG board acknowledged Mr Karan’s contribution during his tenure as chairman that had seen some major property developments and land acquisitions.
