THE veil of mystique and curiosity was lifted at the Fijian Drua when it opened its doors to media houses and its sponsors yesterday for its Media Content Day.

It was an opportunity for the Swire Shipping-sponsored men’s team to engage in official photoshoots for editorial or commercial use, create digital content for media outlets, and be introduced by the media to fans the club regards as the world’s best.

The homebase, located near the Nadi International Airport, was abuzz with activity as players were sought after by the media and sponsors to create content.

It is also the only occasion where the media is able to speak to a large number of players, since the subsequent appearances in the season would mean little to no opportunities in an already-fixed schedule.

The Fijian Drua’s general manager commercial Shane Hussein highlighted how vital the content day was for the club.

“The Fijian Drua is a commercial entity. We can’t survive without the support and sponsorship of our partners, our corporate partners and this is a great day for us to be able to give back to them and do a lot of things on their behalf,” Hussein told Times Sport.

“For us, it’s a real signifier that the season is just about to start and it’s all very exciting.”

He said doing so meant the achievement of commercial and financial objectives laid out in their sponsorships.

New additions to the main squad and the 12 development players were out in full force committing to media and marketing engagements.

The day ended with a performance by vocalist Liz Vamarasi who performed her popular tracks “Rawai” and “Vakadua”, her collaboration with Fijian rapper JU BEN.

Meanwhile, next on the itinerary for the men will be their pre-season trial match with the Chiefs in New Zealand at the end of this month.
