GRASSHOPPERS Netball Festival organisers are thinking of expanding the tournament from next year.

Tournament coordinator Gabrielli Qoro said the annual tournament had grown since its inception.

“This tournament is in its third year running and we have observed how it has tremendously grown,” Qoro said.

“We started with a few teams and now we have about 30 teams participating and the number grows each year.”

He said organisers hoped to include more age groups. “We are looking at opening up the categories to under-21 and an open women’s category and a mixed netball category.”

Qoro said there would be an inclusion of Pacific Island countries including Australia and New Zealand who have been part of the tournament.

“We will be inviting teams from the other Pacific Island countries. There is a lot of male participation in netball from our neighbouring countries which is why we will give them an opportunity to come and play,” said Qoro.
