THE netball season is officially underway for both the Serua Netball Association and Naitasiri Netball Association, with players, officials, friends, and family members turning out in numbers to celebrate the opening of their respective competitions.

The Serua Netball Association officially launched its season last week with an opening knockout competition, bringing together teams from across the province.

Chief Guest Mr. Tevita Boseiwaqa (pictured), chairperson of the Suva City Council, congratulated the association on its efforts to provide opportunities for women and young girls through sport.

In support of the opening tournament, Mr. Boseiwaqa donated $2000, contributing towards the successful staging of the competition.

Also attending the opening was Netball Fiji Technical Officials Committee (TOC) Secretary Alumeci V. Sachs, who made a contribution to the association through the donation of netballs, a sound system with a microphone, and a set of uniforms.

Meanwhile, the Naitasiri Netball Association also marked the beginning of its season with an opening ceremony last week.

The association encouraged players to embrace the values of discipline, teamwork, and respect both on and off the court throughout the season.

Both openings showcased the important role netball plays in bringing communities together while providing opportunities for young girls and women to develop their skills and represent their districts.

As the season gets underway, Serua and Naitasiri are looking forward to competitive and successful campaigns both on and off the court.
