The organisers of the 35th Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s Festival plan to lure more grassroots clubs in a bid to showcase their talents against renowned teams in the country.
The annual event, which will be played at Prince Charles Park in Nadi from March 3-5, will not only feature rugby but volleyball and netball as well.
Nawaka Rugby Club president Eparama Sailo said they expected an overwhelming response after a lengthy lapse of sporting events in Nadi.
“This is the first year that we have made it into a festival-like competition including the volleyball and netball,” Sailo said.
“We are grateful to major sponsor Paradise Beverages for giving us the platform to provide the opportunity for grassroots teams to showcase their talents.
“We are hoping to get in as many grassroots teams as possible to give them an experience to play against the bigger names and hope they unearth new talents.”
Sailo said they were in talks with the Nadi Town Council to seek ways to hold all the sports competitions within the Prince Charles Park enclosure.
