Navua, also known as the Anaconda Town, is set to come alive with the inaugural Serua Namosi Community Games 2025 taking place today at Thompson Park.

This highly anticipated event is expected to attract over 1000 participants for two days of intense competition.

Featuring four sports, Touch rugby, Netball, Volleyball, and Futsal soccer, the games will showcase the best of sporting talent.

While three sports will be played at Thompson Park, Futsal soccer matches will be held at Vashist Muni School Ground.

Tournament director, Sera Yavita, expressed excitement for the event, emphasising the importance of bringing communities together through sports.

“We also have Kids in Community Sports Program for the children and also Inclusive Sports for our vulnerable members of community,” said Yavita.

“The main aim of this event is to promote safe and supportive communities through sports. The event is designed to measure the level of sports development for communities within the Serua Namosi vicinity.”

She adds since communities ranging from Navunisoco right through to Navutulevu will be participating, the event will also be an opportunity to help address socio-economic issues and also help combat and curb the rise in drug related issues and HIV cases within the vicinity.

“The event focuses mainly in bringing the Namosi and Serua Provinces together in one accord to build unity, peace and harmony within their respective communities.

“The atmosphere of the event is high as communities are all anticipating the event.

“This event is an inaugural event as it is the first time for the games to be conducted for both Serua and Namosi.

“The event will be officially opened by Vunivalu Tui Namosi and officially closed by Vunivalu Serua.”

To all residents of Namosi and Serua, the organisers extend a warm invitation to join in the celebrations.

Families are encouraged to participate, and childcare facilities will be available for those with young children. Let’s come together to celebrate this special occasion and commemorate Fiji Day in style.
