Taking he best prepared team to the upcoming Fiji Primary Schools Inter District Championship is the aim of the Navua under-14 football side.

This as the district held its Inter Primary Sports Competition at Vashist Muni Memorial Primary School in Navua yesterday.

Schools around Navua, which include Rampur Primary, J N Jokhan Primary and Nakavu Primary, competed in the U14 and U12 grades football, netball and volleyball.

VMMPS head teacher Ami Chand said the aim was to select the best players for the IDC.

“This year we only have the U14 grade category at the IDC so we want to take the best players possible. We had a break of two years due to COVID-19 so we have to select from a new range of players this year,” Lal said.

He added that it was good to see the level of competition at the meet.

“We can see that football is still alive in Navua as there is an abundance of talent. “I know it will be difficult for the coaches to pick the best players as there are many good ones out there.”

Hosts VMMPS and RPS dominated most of the categories. VMMPS won the U14 football while RPS took out the U12 division.

RPS won the U14 division netball while Ramour won the U12 category.

RPS domainted the boys volleyball winning both grades.

Meanwhile, the primary schools football IDC will be held from September 21-23 at Tavua’s Garvey Park.
