THE Navua under-14 side is taking preparations seriously for the upcoming Fiji Primary Schools InterDistrict Championship.
Team coach Mohammed Shafil said he held trials with players from schools around Navua and the best had been selected.
“Due to time constraints, we held our trials early and we have basically selected our players. I have been impressed with a few players at the Inter-Primary that we had today (last Friday) and they will be drafted in the squad,” Mohammed said.
The two new players picked are both from Nakavu Primary School.
“I have picked the goalkeeper and the sweeper from Nakavu Primary as they really stood out in the tournament. They will surely gel in well with the current players.”
In matches played on Friday, Vashist Muni Primary beat Rampur Primary 3-1 while JN Jokhan Primary School edged Nakavu Primary 2-1.
In the second round, Vashist beat JN Jokhan 2-1 and Rampur had a 1-nil win over Nakavu.
In the Under-12 grade, JN Jokhan edged Nakavu 1-nil while Vashist and Rampur played to a 1-all draw.
Meanwhile, the 2023 Primary IDC will be held at Sigatoka’s Lawaqa Park in the first week of August.
