In other RFN updates, the RFN Kikau and crew members were part of a regional Fisheries Enforcement and Surveillance operation Tui Moana 2023.

The RFN reported that during the operations, Fisheries Enforcement and RFN boarding officers conducted a total of 36 boardings.

“Operation Tui Moana 2023 has been very successful for Fiji’s effort in curbing IUU Fishing within Fiji’s EEZ and has been possible with the support of remote sensing platforms provided by FFA and aerial surveillance support by QUAD partners.”

“The RFN continues to assist the ministry in this space and through its collaboration many best practices have been identified and would continue to be enhanced in the near future.”
