MARK the name Mosese Naura.

The 22-year-old lanky rover from Navatusila in Navosa was impressive for Seattle Barbarians in their match against the Fijian Drua 7s team.

Naura scored two tries which saw the side manage a 14-all draw against the Super Rugby Pacific side.

His agility and speed was notable, outpacing Drua flyer Taniela Rakuro at the corner and sped away to score his try.

“We did what we have been preparing for during the week and we executed some of it. I give credit to the boys for playing together out there on the field and getting this result even though it was a draw. The job is not over; we still have a long way to go,” he said in an interview with this newspaper.

“We’ve really learnt a lot from the Drua because they play at a level higher than us, that is Super Rugby, we got to feel how they play which was a great experience for me.”

Naura is no stranger to the local rugby scene having been part of the DXC Barbarians 7s team and also featured for Nadi rugby in last year’s Skipper Cup.

“I live and breathe rugby now because I couldn’t continue with my education so I’m doing everything that I can to make a living out of rugby,” the former Ba Provincial Freebird Institute student shared.

Last year, Nadi coach Ilaitia Momo Seru praised the clean on the field work ethic of Naura and said that he is someone to look out for in the future.

When asked about his future plans, Nauru said he is aiming for the white jumper.

“I’m not in the Fiji 7s extended squad yet but I know I’m so close to it. God knows what the future holds for me and only time will tell,” he added.

The young budding star plays rover and winger and resembles the physicality of current Fiji 7s player Joji Nasova.

He could be an asset to Fiji 7s head coach Osea Kolinisau if he is good enough to make the squad.
