Immigration Minister Viliame Naupoto has clarified that the Immigration officials will only be able to stop people at the border if a formal notice has been issued.
Mr Naupoto said whether a notice was issued for a Chinese businessman under investigation for corruption related allegations by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption would need further inquiry to the relevant authority.
However, he maintained that he would not be able to comment any further on the issue as there was an active FICAC investigation against the businessman.
According to reports, the Suva-based businessman is under investigation by the commission for allegedly defrauding Government of millions of dollars and departed the country earlier this year.
