Acting Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner Sevuloni Naucukidi, who faces allegations of threatening one of his employees, is seeking an early hearing date.

Appearing at the Suva Magistrate’s Court yesterday, his lawyer Samuela Savu informed Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne that the request is being made because the charge affects Mr Naucukidi’s employment as a constitutional office holder.

But the request made no headway as prosecutors from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions were away at a conference in Nadi.

Mr Naucukidi is facing a count of criminal intimidation allegedly committed some time in July this year. It is alleged that he threatened a member of his support staff.

The charge was laid following consultations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. The case has been adjourned to November 26.
